Thank you for taking the time to enquire about psychology treatment and support with Jodie Thomas.  There are few different questions commonly asked prior to a visit.  I hope the following information provides a pathway to ensuring you get the best support.
HOW TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT - To engage in psychology treatment referrals are welcome and can be through a variety channels. Medicare
referrals from GP’s are generally made under the Better Access to Mental Health Care scheme ($84.50 Rebate). This entitles eligible patients to ten subsidised treatment sessions in a year. Psychiatrists and Paediatricians may refer patients directly.  Private Health Insurance
Patients with extras cover in their private health insurance may be eligible to claim part of the cost of psychological treatment. WorkSafe, Victims of Crime and TAC
GPs are welcome to refer patients for treatment under these supports after a claim has been approved. Or simply call 0466909277 and make a time to see Jodie.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST – I am passionate in providing quality affordable evidence based psychology support.  Therapy sessions cost $130 for 6O minute sessions.  In most cases some type of rebate can eliminate the costs associated with accessing support (e.g. Session $130 - Medicare Rebate $84.50  = Out of pocket $45.50).  Health care card holders and other special considerations are bulk billed.

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED – We have recently moved into new premises at 83 South Valley Road, Highton (corner of Porter Avenue).  Look for the yellow door.  There is ample parking at the rear of the premises off Porter Avenue (no signage at present).

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE FIRST SESSION – Some people may be new to working with a psychologist and are unsure of how the process unfolds.  The first visit involves an introduction and discussion of what has brought you to arrange a meeting.  For any young person attending, it is appropriate for a primary care giver or support to attend the initial stages of the first session. We generally meet for 60 minutes.
